Seek justice for you or your loved ones
If you believe you or a loved one has suffered health issues linked to PFAS exposure, you may have legal options to seek compensation. Your journey toward justice starts here.
To qualify for a PFAS lawsuit, you’ll need to show that you have been exposed to PFAS and have suffered harm as a result. Those living near industrial sites where PFAS were used, workers who handled PFAS-containing materials and consumers who used products with high levels of PFAS or drank water contaminated with PFAS are examples of people who may be eligible to file claims.

Exposure to PFAS has been linked to a variety of health issues, including an increased risk of several types of cancer. Some groups of people, such as industrial workers involved in making or processing PFAS-containing materials and people who live near PFAS-producing facilities, may be more likely to experience negative health effects.
You can be exposed to PFAS chemicals by drinking contaminated water, eating food containing them or by breathing them. If you regularly use household products made with PFAS, you can be exposed.
PFAS have been found in soil and water, leading to widespread ecological damage. Wildlife exposed to PFAS in their environments also suffer harm to their health, and that disrupts ecosystems and goes up the food chain.
Studies have investigated how PFAS disrupt the way cells use energy, how they interfere with DNA and how they change cell immunity. These may contribute to various kinds of cancer, including:
Four chemical companies are the major manufacturers and marketers of PFAS. They are all very large, international companies with billions of dollars in revenue.
Your health problems and cancer due to your PFAS exposure may have led to medical expenses, lost wages and suffering. You may be able to hold the companies who make these chemicals responsible for your losses. In addition to getting justice and potential financial compensation for you, these lawsuits raise public awareness of the dangers of PFAS. They also can pressure governments to put stricter regulations on harmful chemicals, like PFOS and PFOA, in place.
A new study linking PFAS exposure to cancer was published by the Journal of Exposure Science & Environmental Epidemiology.
In a new wrinkle on the lawsuits, Texas has sued PFAS manufacturers for deceptive trade practices by not disclosing the risks associated with PFAS.
On the trend of lawsuits against PFAS users vs. manufacturers, Carrier settled $730 million in PFAS claims.
3M offered $10.3 billion to settle water contamination cases.
DuPont and its spin-off companies offered a $1.8 billion settlement.
Cases around environmental contamination caused by the use of Aqueous Film-Forming Foams (AFFFs) used to fight fires have been consolidated in the US District Court of South Carolina.

While useful in industrial, household and personal products, exposure to PFAS chemicals has been linked to a number of serious health problems. They are often called “forever chemicals,” because they don’t break down. They are a threat to health that could last for hundreds of years.
Current lawsuits are focused on drinking water contaminated by PFAS, like one filed by California water utilities in April 2024. Additional current lawsuits have been filed by individuals affected by film-forming foams used to fight fires, resulting in personal injury, property damage and economic losses.
PFAS are in general use in thousands of products. Government regulators have been slow to ban their use. PFAS can no longer be used in food wrappers as a grease blocker. Popcorn bags, fast-food wraps, take-out containers and pet food bags can no longer contain PFAS as of February 2024.
New limits have been put on non-stick pans, gaskets used in food processing equipment and food manufacturing aids. As of July 2021, rugs and carpets treated with PFAS cannot be sold in California. Connecticut has further bans. California and New York ban PFAS on apparel and other textiles, effective January 2025.
